Clouds Rest is one of Yosemite National Park’s most incredible hikes, and this one pushed us farther than we expected. We started before sunrise from the Sunrise Lakes Trailhead along Tioga Road, hitting the trail around 5:50 AM for what would become our longest and most physically demanding hike in Yosemite. Over the next 10.5 hours, we climbed through the forest, crossed high-elevation granite, took in some absolutely incredible views, and eventually made our way onto the exposed ridge of Clouds Rest. Between the elevation, exhaustion, exposure, and sheer distance, this hike tested us both physically and mentally. We ultimately hiked 12.73 miles before returning to the trailhead a little after 4 PM, completely exhausted but incredibly proud of how far we had gone. In this video, we’re taking you along for the entire adventure, from the early morning start to the breathtaking views and the moments when Clouds Rest really began pushing us to our limit. Join us for a scenic drive along Tioga Road as we explore Yosemite National Park’s beautiful high country! During our Tioga Road adventure, we visit Tenaya Lake, take in the incredible views from Olmsted Point, and spend the day discovering the quieter side of Yosemite National Park. From crystal-clear water and massive granite formations to sweeping views of Yosemite’s backcountry, this drive quickly became one of our favorite experiences from the trip. We took on Yosemite’s legendary Mist Trail for one of the most unforgettable hikes of our entire California road trip! Starting before sunrise from Curry Village, we made our way to the Vernal Fall Footbridge before climbing more than 600 wet, uneven granite steps alongside the powerful spray of Vernal Fall. After reaching the top, we continued deeper into Yosemite’s wilderness toward Nevada Fall, gaining even more elevation and taking in some incredible views along the way. This roughly 7-mile hike was challenging, exhausting, and absolutely worth it. Between the mist, the steep climbs, the towering waterfalls, and the nonstop scenery, the Mist Trail truly lived up to its legendary reputation. We finally made it to Yosemite National Park! On Day 3 of our seven-day California road trip, we spent the day exploring Yosemite Valley for the very first time. We started before sunrise at the iconic Tunnel View, where we watched the morning light slowly move across El Capitan, Half Dome, and Bridalveil Fall.
