What Makes Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater So Unique?

As soon as you check in—either through the My Disney Experience app or at the front desk—you’ll be called by your “carhop” and taken through a backstage-style hallway. Suddenly, you’re no longer in a theme park but under a starry nighttime sky, surrounded by vintage cars with glowing headlights. Each table is styled like a car from the 1950s, and you’ll sit side-by-side, all facing a giant screen.

The screen runs a loop of vintage sci-fi movie trailers, cartoons, and concession stand ads—not full-length films, but quirky, fun clips that loops every 40 minutes or so. It’s cozy, dimly lit, and incredibly immersive—ideal for escaping the Florida heat or just enjoying something a little offbeat.

Even if you’re not into old sci-fi films, the atmosphere alone makes this one of the most immersive dining experiences at Disney World.

Starters

We started with the onion rings, which were golden, crispy, and served with a tasty horseradish dipping sauce.

For drinks, we shared an Oreo milkshake—thick and delicious—and tried “The Meteor,” a soda served in a glowing souvenir cup. The shake was fantastic. The glowing cup? Less so. We were hoping for something a bit more impressive. But kids may get a kick out of the glowing cup.

Entrées We Tried

There are six burgers on the menu, including a plant-based option, plus a fried chicken sandwich and salad.

What We Ordered:

  • Feature Film Burger (Noah’s pick): This one rotates seasonally. Ours had corned beef, coleslaw, and a Thousand Island style dressing on a brioche bun.

  • The Cyborg-er (Chrissa's choice): Griddled pastrami, pepper jack, heirloom tomato, lettuce, and Carolina mustard sauce—also on brioche.

Were they the best burgers ever? No. But they were satisfying and flavorful—solid theme park food that hits the spot.

Dessert

We finished with the Cerulean Moon, a visually fun and tasty dessert made of chocolate mousse with a strawberry filling center, graham cracker tart base, hibiscus sponge, “green space dust,” and chocolate caramel sauce.

Oh, and instead of a bill? You’ll get a “parking violation” ticket. It’s a cute touch that wraps up the whole experience.

My Honest Review of Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater

If you’re going to Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater for the food, you’ll get decent, satisfying meals—but it’s the atmosphere that really delivers. It’s cozy, quirky, and unlike anything else at Disney. We’d absolutely recommend it if you want a laid-back escape from the heat and crowds with a heavy dose of nostalgia.

That said, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Car booths are snug, so it might feel tight for some guests.

  • Lighting is very low, which adds to the vibe but can make it hard to see your food.

  • If you prefer more space or want to see what you’re eating, ask for one of the picnic-style tables when you check in.

Is Sci-Fi Dine-In Worth It?

For a memorable dining experience at Hollywood Studios, Sci-Fi Dine-In absolutely delivers. It’s not fine dining—but it’s fun, immersive, and family-friendly. The prices are standard for a table-service spot in the parks, and with the theming, you’re getting more than just a meal—you’re getting a show.
